Bengaluru: : In the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 47 runs. It was a do or die match for the Royal Challengers. Batting first in this match played at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, RCB scored 187 runs. In reply, Delhi team was limited to 140 runs only.
This was RCB’s fifth consecutive win. With this victory, the team is still in the race for the playoffs. Asibi has 12 points after six wins and seven losses from 13 matches. With the win over Delhi, the team has reached fifth position. Bengaluru has to play its last match against Chennai Super Kings on 18 May. The fate of both the teams will depend on this match. If Chennai wins, RCB will be out of the race for the playoffs. At the same time, if Bengaluru wins then it will have to win by a good margin so that the net run rate can be better than Chennai. Even after this, Bengaluru will have to depend on the results of other teams.
Rajat Patidar played a brilliant innings
Talking about the match, for Bengaluru, Rajat Patidar scored 52 runs in 32 balls and Will Jacques scored 41 runs in 29 balls. However, Virat Kohli contributed 27 runs. In reply, Delhi team was reduced to 140 runs in 19.1 overs. Akshar Patel, who was captaining in place of Rishabh Pant in the match, scored 57 runs in 39 balls. Yash Dayal took three wickets and Loki Ferguson took two wickets.
